About Course

The Intermediate Logic course is designed for producers who are comfortable with the basics and ready to deepen their creative and technical skillset. Through a hands-on, feedback-driven approach, students will explore more advanced techniques in MIDI programming, audio manipulation, synthesis, workflow design, and mixing.
By the end of the course, students will complete and export a polished track, with personalized feedback and guided development from a professional producer.

Topics

  • Workflow Optimization and Project Organization
Build templates, use Track Stacks, markers, and screensets to work faster.
  • Arrangement and Transitions
Shape sections, contrasts, and energy with clear song form and smooth moves.
  • Flex Time, Flex Pitch, and Varispeed
Stretch, correct, and re-time audio while keeping musical feel.
  • Advanced MIDI Programming and Humanization
Use groove templates, velocity shaping, and Capture Recording for natural parts.
  • Drum Design and Groove
Create kits in Drum Machine Designer or Ultrabeat and dial swing and feel.
  • Synths, Samplers, and Custom Instruments
Design sounds with Alchemy, ES2, Retro Synth, Quick Sampler, and EXS24.
  • Creative Effects and Automation
Build parallel chains with modulation, saturation, and spatial FX, then automate.
  • Mixing, Master Bus, Loudness, and Export
Balance, carve space, set stereo image, hit target loudness, and bounce stems.

Goals

  • Complete one polished original track between 2 and 3 minutes with clear structure.
  • Build layered MIDI and audio parts that show humanized timing and velocity control.
  • Design at least two custom sounds or a full drum kit using Logic instruments or samplers.
  • Edit audio with Flex tools to correct timing and pitch while preserving tone.
  • Mix with gain staging, EQ, compression, and sends to achieve clear separation across the spectrum.
  • Apply master bus processing to reach appropriate streaming loudness and clean headroom, then export WAV at 44.1 kHz, 24-bit.
  • Organize the session with templates, Track Stacks, color coding, and markers for fast revisions.
